Salvation and Deliverance Church Choir has been named the winner of the 2011 Verizon Wireless How Sweet The Sound choir competition. The choir will receive $40,000 in cash and prizes and a chance to perform at both the 2012 Stellar Awards and the 2012 Super Bowl Gospel Celebration.
The evening was highlighted by a performance of gospel song “He’s Everything” by Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah from the upcoming Joyful Noise movie.
The Living Legend Award was given to gospel music mainstay Andrae Crouch. Chaka Khan presented him with the award and he received a tribute in song from CeCe Winans, Donald Lawrence and Marvin Sapp.
