Bishop Eddie Long just can’t find a way to escape the headlines.

He recently settled a $2 million dollar lawsuit that stemmed from claims that he and his partners in a real estate venture defaulted on a $2 million bank loan.

Long and his two partners in the West Indies Holding Co. LLC, took out a loan from a Macon bank for a Jonesboro commercial property that includes Omni Hoops & Fitness gymnasium.

However, the bank failed and was absorbed by State Bank & Trust. With that the bank filed a lawsuit to recover the balance of $1.9 million plus interest and fees.

The settlement involves an installment plan that will include $102,690.26 in property tax and nearly $300,000 in attorney fees by January 2015.

Earlier this year, Long reached the end of a list of costly legal battles that have damaged his reputation and dented his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church membership and leadership
