In his recently released book “Pass The Torch: How A Young Black Father Challenges the ‘Deadbeat Dad’ Stereotype” author Jamiyl Samuels shows the positive side of the Black family.

 
Through his own W.R.E.a.C Havoc Publishing imprint Samuels refutes the negative images propagated in the media about young Black men as irresponsible, violent, and ignorant.
 

“It is evident that the media tends to show Black men for the most part in a damaging light,” says Samuels, a contributor to TheUrbandaily.com. “And it most often correlates with Hip Hop and the messages in the music. I grew up on Hip Hop and I credit the art form with getting me through my tough times, so I wanted to show the positive influences of the music, film and sports as it relates to the urban kids that take part in, promote and ultimately advance these industries”
