What is your preference – to follow or lead?  Take a moment and think about it, a lot of us are just not satisfied in doing the following, we like to do the leading!  We’re human and at times we do want things to go our way.  But we have to realize and accept that as children of the Most High God, it’s always about his way.

On this daily spiritual journey, we are not the leader, but the follower.  ”The LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good and leads you along the paths you should follow.”  (Isaiah 48:17, NLT).  God is always in front, preparing the way.  He wants to do the leading, guiding, and directing of his children to where he wants them to go and what he wants them to do.  For someone reading this, God knows what is best for you.

The path may not always look very clear to us.  All we have to do is rely and depend on his vision and guidance, listen to and obey his word.  When we are willing to be led by his word and Spirit, we get to know him in a more intimate way.  Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.  I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise again:  I will obey your wonderful laws.  (Psalm 119:105-106, NLT).  See, following the leader is also worshiping him, obedience.

Do you need guidance concerning any issues, questions, or concerns in your life?  Put aside your way, ask for his, receive it and then continue to follow and worship him.  He already has it planned and mapped out for you.  There’s a hymn chorus I remember the saints singing when I was growing up.  Now, I know the true meaning of it for myself.  “Lead me, guide me along the way.  For if you lead me I cannot not stray.  Lord let me walk each day with Thee.  Lead me oh Lord, lead me.”
