A powerful collection of four songs: 1. All Things Beautiful, 2. Power of the Cross, 3. Refuge, and 4. Hallelujah Forever was helmed by Dove Award-wining producer Phil Sillas.
The debut single from the Power of the Cross EP is called “All Things Beautiful”. Johnson comments the song, “The message of this song has been burning in my heart for some time. I become overwhelmed by all the suffering in the world, and when I try to reconcile this in light of the loving and all-powerful God, I am simply left shaking my head, asking ‘Why?’ This song is my response to that desperate question. I can confidently place my hope in Christ because I know His plan is perfect and that one day He will redeem, restore and make all things beautiful
Shelly E. Johnson grew up in a strong Christian family. However, Shelly E. Johnson‘s relationship with Christ was formed strongly when she was fourteen. At that time, her father passed away from cancer. Shelly remembers, “When faced with that kind of tragedy, some people get angry at God and turn their back on Him, but I chose to run to Him. I knew if He could create the universe, then surely He could take care of me, and I wanted to know Him more. Reading the Bible, praying and journaling became part of my daily routine, and seeking after Christ became my number one priority. I began to transform spiritually during that season of my life.”
Johnson continues, “When my daddy was sick, playing my music was my way of dealing with it. I would play and sing for hours, pouring my emotions out to the Lord. The first song I ever wrote was called ‘Miracles’, and it was just a simple, honest song from the heart of a 14-year-old begging God to work a miracle and heal my daddy.”
