It’s not every day that you get to see your favorite gospel stars in unguarded moments. But thanks to David Mann, husband of GRAMMY-nominated “Take Me to the King” singer, Tamela Mann, you get a peek inside the moment he broke the jaw-dropping news to his wife of her nomination.
Her exhilarated response was priceless.
Before the big reveal, in a hushed voice, Mr. Mann, known by many as funnyman, “Mr. Brown” said via Social Cam, “Tam don’t know, but she’s been nominated for a GRAMMY, so I’m about to go tell her.”
He then quietly walked down the hallway to find the missus, who had just finished singing their grandson to sleep.
“Hey dear, look,” he said, “I want you to see something.”
So Mrs. Mann walked over, dressed in a turquoise t-shirt, sporting eyeglasses.
“You’ve just been nominated for a GRAMMY,” Mann sprung on her.
Immediately, the singer’s mouth dropped open and she let out a scream of delight, and covered her mouth, as not to awaken the sleeping baby.
“I got chill bumps,” she said and then asked, “Why you have to get me on camera?”
Afterward, she broke down crying. “Oh my God that is so great… God is great,” she said emotionally, covering her face.
