Two gospel legends will be honored at this year’s annual Day of Praise & Inspiration at the ESSENCE Festival on July 7.

Donnie McClurkin, 53, and Tramaine Hawkins, 61, will enjoy tributes, as the iconic brand celebrates their storied careers.

The free event, which will feature tribute performances from Yolanda Adams, Isaac Carree, Kim Burrell, Kurt Carr, Michelle Williams, Tyronne Foster & The Arc Singers, Bishop Lester Love and Bishop Noel Jones, is sure to attract a huge crowd to New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

On January 18, 2013, Hawkins was honored at BMI’s 14th annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon in Nashville, TN, along with Edwin Hawkins and Kurt Carr. Three years prior, both McClurkin and Andraé Crouch, received the same honor.

In 2012, award-winning songwriters and recording artists, Fred Hammond and sister duo, Mary Mary, were honored by ESSENCE–a recognition that Tina Campbell was particularly humbled to receive.

“I don’t even know what to say, but my God, my God, my God,” she said during her emotional remarks. “How amazing to experience this after 12 years. I don’t know what to say but I’m so thankful.”
