As part of her ongoing efforts to encourage the youth to commit to their schoolwork, first lady Michelle Obama will be hosting two events this week that will highlight the importance and need of education.

First, Mrs. Obama will host a White House screening of the movie The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete on Wednesday, Jan. 15 , “a coming of age story about two inner-city youth who are left to fend for themselves in the Bronx,” the press release says.

The film stars actors Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks and was co-produced by singer Alicia Keys.

Following the film, the first lady will address attendees before senior administration officials participate in a group discussion on the challenges of the access available in under-served communities and the best practices they should follow.
