Though many respect Iyanla Vanzant, 60 year old host of “Iyanla: Fix My Life” on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN

Network, not everyone believes the spiritual leader can live up to the title of her show—namely, Bishop T.D.

Jakes.

On Sunday morning, Feb. 16, during an altar call at his The Potter’s House, the 56-year-old Dallas mega

pastor, known for being outspoken on pop culture issues, said, “You don’t need Iyanla to fix your life.”

His statement, which was met with applause, was not a direct indictment against Vanzant, though it could be

taken that way, but rather, a small part of a larger point.

In context, the popular pastor, who has toured with both Vanzant and Oprah as part of the media mogul’s

“Lifeclass,” was discussing the supernatural power of Jesus Christ and how only the son of God could truly fix

anyone.

“Salvation is free. You don’t have to labor for it. You don’t have to fix up for it. You don’t have change yourself

and then come and present yourself worthy to come,” Jakes said.
