Although the Bible calls animals irrational in Jude 1:10 and 2 Peter 2:12, and condemns those who operate by

their instincts, Bishop T.D. Jakes is gearing up to release a book that instructs others to better live according to

what he calls their divinely-inspired instincts.

His book titled, Instinct: The Power to Unleash your Inborn Drive (FaithWords, May 2014), according to the 56-

year-old mega pastor, was inspired by his trip to an African Safari, and is not deeply rooted in scripture.

“I have to be honest. If you’re thinking about getting the book, I have to confess, the book is not really saturated

with Scripture,” Jakes told his congregation during a Sunday morning sermon at The Potter’s House in Dallas,

TX on Feb. 3.

“And the reason I spent more time focusing on real-life evaluations and using animals as metaphors [is]

because animals are better at being instinctive than we are, and I did it like that because, sometimes, church

people, we do church better than we do life.”
