The Cleveland Browns have released quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell from the team and picked up a defensive back, they announced today.

The 30-year-old Weeden, who started with the Browns in 2012, played in 23 games in his two seasons with the team.

The team released Jason Campbell just moments after they announced Weeden’s release:

“We appreciate Jason’s contributions to the Browns in 2013. He’s a respected veteran player in this league. We felt like at this time, early in the free-agency period, we would give him a better opportunity to move forward. We wish Jason the best in his future endeavors.”
