Goodyear and the blimp have a long history together. Goodyear unveiled it newest state-of-the-art blimp at its Wingfoot Lake hanger in Suffield.

The new look blimp is larger, faster, quieter and more maneuverable than its predecessors. The airship is 246 feet long — to put that into perspective, that is just 18 yards shorter than an American football field.

Goodyear teamed up with Germany’s ZLT Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik to build the massive airship.

Later this month, Goodyear expects to start test flights right here in Northeast Ohio. If all goes well, it should be put into service this summer. The new looks blimp appears similar to the Zeppelins of old but with many new features.
