Calvin D. Williams, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, announced that current Second District Commander Keith Sulzer will be stepping down from his current position. Commander Sulzer will resume his civil service rank of Captain and be assigned to the Division’s Community Policing Unit as Captain and serve as liaison between the Division and the Cleveland Police Foundation.

Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Union President Jeff Follmer said, “he’s been a great commander. Great for the officers. No way he would’ve stepped down. He had to be forced out.”

Activists meantime have started petitions trying to find a way to keep Sulzer as a commander. Even some councilman have spoken out in support of him.
