With so much preventative information, billboard ads, etc, the rate of sexually transmitted diseases continue to rise across the country. According to the CDC, individuals between the ages of 15 and 24 represent half of the new STD cases. Women under 25 are recommended to be tested for chlamydia every year.

The STDs that are most common includes chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. Of course abstinence, consistent condom use and practicing monogamy can decrease the likelihood of catching an STD. Check out the list below to see where your state lies in the top 10:

10. North Carolina

524 per 100,000 have chlamydia. It ranks 6th in gonorrhea and 24th in syphillis transmissions.

9. New York

516 per 100,000 have chlamydia. It ranks 16th in gonorrhea and 7th in syphillis transmissions.

8. Texas

494 per 100,000 have chlamydia. It ranks 13th in gonorrhea and 6th in syphillis transmissions.
