It’s another piece of a revived downtown building boom.

Cuyahoga County’s new Administrative Headquarters Building will open on July 15.

The new offices at 2079 East 9th Street will house more than 600 county workers.

There will be a 1:30 pm ceremony with Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, County Council members, representatives from the developers, and local business leaders.

The Geis Companies built and own the building and will lease it to the county for 26 years with an option to buy at the end of the lease.

The project cost more than $200 million.

It will mean new life on the streets of a dormant part of downtown.

Many county workers who had been located at multiple county-owned and leased buildings will be consolidated into a single location that should be more convenient for the public.

The county projects the move could save the county up to $84 million over 20 years, bringing multiple operations under one roof.
