Councilman of Ward II Zach Reed proposes the city hire 200 new police officers in light of increasing violence and homicides.
Reed says budget restraints are usually to blame for a lack of officers, but points out the city has found funds to redo Public Square, build a bridge to the Lakefront and more.
Reed says the government will find money for things it wants to fund, calling on others to get behind action to save the lives of its citizens. He goes on to say the city must first ask itself if it has a problem, and if so, what is it going to do to fix it.
