What a difference a year makes! Last year the Cleveland Cavaliers Wine and Gold Scrimmage was closed to the public.

This year 20,000 people showed up to see LeBron on the court, and every move he made caused the crowd to go wild.

“Welcome home LeBron! We love you and we missed you,” screamed one fan.

“LeBron’s back. Championship! 70 wins,” yelled another.

For many fans these annual scrimmages are a tradition, but the energy this year is unmatched.

“They’ve never been like this. I guess having LeBron, Kevin Love and Kyrie, it gives Cleveland something to be excited about,” said fan Nicholas Lee.

It’s a far cry from the turnout for last year’s scrimmage called Hoops and Troops.

It was closed to the public but open exclusively to military members and their families at the gym at Baldwin-Wallace University.

But at the Q this year, with limited tickets and sky high prices Wednesday night’s free scrimmage could be the only game many families will get to see.
