1. WINTER WEATHER

Enough already: Already buried under more than 5 feet of snow in some areas, Buffalo is going to get another 20-30 inches today. Just clearing the streets is a major undertaking. Already, more than 6,500 tons of snow have been removed from city streets and highways, but there’s a lot of work left to do. This Sunday’s NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets is in doubt. Players are stuck at home and coaches are living at the team’s training center because they can’t leave. Seven deaths are blamed on the storm.

2. IMMIGRATION

Prime-time address: President Barack Obama unveils his long-awaited immigration plan tonight, changing rules governing deportations that could affect millions of undocumented immigrants and setting off an explosive battle with Republicans. He’ll do it without congressional approval, but unilaterally by executive order. Exact details of his announcement haven’t been made public yet, but the plan is said to include deferred deportation for the parents of U.S. citizens, a move that would affect up to 3.5 million people. The plan also could include new resources to bolster security on the border. Republicans are less than happy and say they’ll try to stop the White House from implementing Obama’s executive order.

3. FERGUSON

A decision looms: The grand jury looking into the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, will meet Friday for what might be its final session. A decision on whether to charge Officer Darren Wilson in the teen’s death could come the same day, law enforcement officials told CNN. If a decision comes Friday, prosecutors are expected to provide law enforcement with 48 hours notice before making a public announcement, possibly on Sunday. Current plans could still change and prosecutors could shift the planned grand jury session, the officials said. Ferguson became a flashpoint for racial tension after the teen’s shooting; Brown, 18, was black, the officer is white. Some predict that will be the case again when the grand jury’s decision is announced.
