Alicia Keys quietly dropped a new single, “We Gotta Pray,” last night via her Twitter page.
The release comes in the midst of the protests, the sadness, and the outrage following the news that the officer responsible for Eric Garner’s death would not be indicted. The heartfelt lyrics, accompanied with photos of both Ferguson and the Civil Rights Movement, address the seemingly endless racial injustice:
We, we’re extraordinary people/Livin’ an ordinary life/One extraordinary question: Are we goin’ live or die?/So we gotta pray
