Hundreds of Lorain County residents gathered at The Palace Theater in downtown Lorain Sunday evening for “Unity in the Community,” a celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

The crowd was entertained by the musical sights and sounds of local artists including the Bivins Dance Group.

The Lorain County Urban League, 100 Men of Lorain County, and Lorain Pastors Union were all honored for their service to the community.

Ray H. Robinson, pastor of Living Word Ministries in Lorain, was the event’s keynote speaker.  He reflected Dr. King’s lasting impact.

“He had a voice that shined light on hope,” Robinson said. “He caused change not just for people of color but any person who was around the sound of his voice.”
