Having written the screenplay and taking the lead role in the movie, it’s only fitting that Haddon teams with his longtime aggregation for the soundtrack. Twelve tracks strong, Haddon presents a project that continues his legacy of trendy and edgy presentations second to none.

Haddon handles the lion’s share of the production on this album but brings a bevy of talented artists along for the ride for a well-rounded presentation.

Lowell Pye and BET Sunday Best runner-up Jessica Reedy lend their talents to “Praise in the House”, the album’s lone traditional offering. As expected, neither Pye nor Reedy disappoint in this infectious Sunday morning jam.

Destiny’s Child alumnus Michelle Williams offers the heartfelt plea “More Like You”, a definite favorite for personal or corporate worship. The diversity continues with the soft rock presentation of “Over Again” featuring Cylas. The Detroit-based Rock Nationcontinues the rock vibe with the hope-filled “Anything Is Possible”, which is another keeper.

Don’t miss Suzie Rock on “So What”, which deftly showcases the longtime marriage between rock and hip-hop to perfection.

With all of the guest appearances, have no fear. Haddon and VOU are in no way lost in the proverbial sauce. The radio single “Judah”, which features VOU member Clareta Jacksonon lead vocals, provides that classic VOU energy that has defined their presentation for years. Infectious and exciting, this track is unapologetic and is sure to incite a praise riot.

The same could be said for “Zion”, featuring Eric “Bishop” Taylor. Haddon goes for the jugular with the urban presentations and hits a homerun. Damita Haddon takes center stage on the urban slow jam “Breath Away”. Penned by the production team Tim & Bob, this track is evidence of Damita’s impressive artistry.

From top to bottom, Haddon delivers a gem. The multi-faceted Deitrick Haddon has found his stride and has created a soundtrack that serves as the ideal backdrop for the movie that was birthed from his heart. (gospelflava.com)

The memorial celebration for the legendary, Bishop Walter Hawkins at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, California, was held this morning. His maghony-brown casket sat at stage left and was covered with a beautiful flower arrangement. Not clear why the casket wasn’t front and center, but I have my own speculations. Perhaps it was Bishop Hawkins humility, always feeling the need to let others shine. Whatver the reason, Bishop Hawkins will forever be remembered as a man who loved everybody and believed that God accepts us all — that regardless of adversity, you have to love.

Tough story to ignore this week, it’s one that’s making noise across the religious blogosphere.

Lady Gaga’s exceptionally long music video (which apparently people still make) “Alejandro” uses a lot of religious imagery – including Gaga dressed up as a sexy nun in a shiny red and white habit and eating a rosary.

Another pop star, Katy Perry, had this to say on her Twitter account:

Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.

When Katy Perry, whose big hit is “I Kissed a Girl,” tweets that your music video is crossing the line into blasphemy, you may be in trouble.

Perry told a French radio station over the weekend she is a big Gaga fan, but:

I think sometime spirituality and sexuality are separate things, and when you put them together it gets interesting for some people.

AKRON, Ohio – The jury now has found Ashford Thompson guilty of aggravated murder in the shooting death of Twinsburg police officer Josh Miktarian.

Thompson was actually found guilty of all nine counts against him, including another aggravated murder charge for fleeing after committing the crime.

Thompson sat with his arms crossed while the verdict was read, showing no emotion on his face.

Miktarian’s widow, Holly, and Twinsburg police officers shared hugs and tears following the announcment.

The same jury that returned Thursday’s verdict will be back next Thursday to decide whether Thompson will get the death penalty.

The verdict came in at about 11:20 a.m. Thursday. The jury got the case just before noon on Wednesday and spent the rest of the day deliberating.

More trial information:
On Tuesday, the defense rested its case after calling just one witness: Thompson’s girlfriend.

Danielle Roberson testified Thompson was “an arm’s length away” when he fired the first shot. She did not want to be videotaped while she was on the witness chair.

Defense attorney Kerry O’Brien asked Roberson, “Where did Ashford shoot the officer first?” Roberson said, “I believe the forehead.”

Roberson said Thompson then shot two more times. Roberson said she knew Thompson had a gun, but didn’t see it on the night of the killing.

She said she was a passenger in Thompson’s car when he got stopped for playing loud music just before 2 a.m. on July 13, 2008.
Roberson said she heard a verbal exchange between the officer and Thompson and, at one point, saw Thompson fall to the ground.

Roberson testified she saw Miktarian put a handcuff on Thompson and then the officer started pushing him towards the cruiser. After that, Roberson told the jury, “He (Miktarian) kind of slammed him (Thompson) on the hood of the car.”

Prosecutors said Roberson never mentioned that version of events when she was questioned by police hours after the murder.
Roberson testified she was outside of the car when she saw Thompson fire the first shot.

During cross-examination, Roberson said she asked Thompson, “Why did you do that?”

If the jury convicts Thompson of aggravated murder, he could get the death penalty.

The defense tried to convince the jury to convict Thompson of murder instead of the more serious charge of aggravated murder.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – A teacher in Gwinnett County is also under fire for allowing a KKK re-enactment.

Students in one Sweetwater Middle School class dressed up in white robes during history class.

It was an 8th grade social studies project for students at Sweetwater Middle School.

Teacher Stephanie Hunte told the students to choose a period in history and act it out.

“A student group decided they were going to wear robes and re-enact a KKK scene,” said Sloan Roach of Gwinnett County Schools.

School officials say the students who chose to wear the robes hadn’t even gotten inside the classroom, when another teacher saw them in the KKK garb and immediately reported them to the assistant principal.

School administrators say while national history is in the 8th grade curriculum, there are approved materials and textbooks on the topic.

Former PTA president Cheryl Stephen calls Hunte a great teacher who knows how to get through to the students.

But not all parents endorse hunt’s methods.

School officials are looking into the incident. Officials have not decided if any disciplinary action should be taken against Hunte.

The New Jack artist of many trades wrote on his website last Friday that he had been robbed and sent out a plea for his fans to alert police, if they knew any of the people who had been involved in the crime.

Perry then went on to list all of the thief’s detailed charges that began on April 25th and ended on May 4, 2010. It is apparent that the thief enjoyed quite a spree with the card from purchasing several airline and movie tickets to clothing buys from online retailers to a whopping toy escapade at Toys R Us that totaled more than $500.00.

Tyler Perry revealed on his blog that his credit card number was stolen and the thieves racked up nearly $30,000 in charges!

The successful filmmaker and actor posted a list of charges on his account and asked anyone who knew the culprit(s) to call the police:

By the way, some idiot stole my credit card number.  Can you believe that?  Take a look at all the stuff they charged.  If you know any of these people, call the police.
