As another winter wallop heads this way, the city of Cleveland is ready to keep the roads clear.

As of 9 p.m. Thursday, there are 60 snow removal crews out pre-treating Cleveland streets, according to a news release from the city. The city plans to have 11 snow graders out with operators working 12-hour shift making sure that main streets are clear.

ODOT, on the other hand, said wet weather has hindered its efforts to get ahead of the snow. Since the roads are so wet, crews can’t pre-treat the highways.

Once the snow starts falling, they do have plans to have 65 trucks on the interstates and will starts with overpasses and bridges.

As with past storms, Cleveland will begin cleaning residential streets eight hours after the snow stops. The city said it hopes to have crews out on all streets within 24 to 36 hours.

The city currently has 8,274 tons of salt at its disposal. According to Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson’s office, the city has spent $2.2 million on salt this winter, which is still considered under budget.

While there is not currently a snow parking ban, the city does want drivers to park off the streets if possible.
