It’s not too often that gospel music gets any attention during mainstream events and awards shows. But at this year’s BLACK GIRLS ROCK awards, thanks to Mary Mary and Pastor Shirley Caesar, gospel got some shine! BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™ Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, focuses on the healthy development of young women and girls since 2006. The awards show spotlights influential, as well as up and coming women of color, who are viewed as positive influences.  Go inside to see a few pics from the glamorous gospel ladies at the event.

Get it momma! The living legend, Pastor Shirley Caesar, sparkles in a floor length shimmering jacket over a simple black dress. She opts for curly, glamorous tresses to top off her look as she receives her BLACK GIRLS ROCK award.

Sing for Jesus ladies! Award-winning duo Mary Mary slips out of their elegant red carpet attire to pop into something a little jazzier for their onstage performance. Erica, who is pregnant with her third child, rocked an understated black dress with a cinch waist belt. You can hardly see the baby bump hiding underneath! And Tina, always eclectic and daring in her fashion choices, donned a royal blue frock with a bit of fur draped over her shoulders to add glamor

Love to see Christ getting shine. Nice job ladies! Prayerfully, more Christian artists, entertainers, and leaders will cross over into the mainstream as the years go by. For now, we pray for and celebrate those who have made that transition.
