The annual Gospel Music Workshop of America convention returns to Cincinnati Saturday for the second year in a row.

More than 5,000 are expected to attend the workshop, which includes seminars, exhibits and musical showcases. It starts Saturday with a community service project, GMWA Serves, in which more than 200 volunteers will assist 10 different organizations throughout the region, including nursing homes, Matthew 25: Ministries and the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Other events include Our Daily Bread services at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, with nationally known preachers including Pastor Donnie McClurkin (Wednesday) and the Rev. Al Sharpton (Thursday); Midnight Musicals concerts Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; and the Macy’s Gospel Festival at 7 p.m. Thursday, headlined by Shirley Caesar.
