It’s almost time to “Fall Back” again. Daylight Saving Time is a week later than usual this year, with you turning your clocks back an hour at 2 a.m. Sunday Nov. 7.

The American Red Cross also reminds everyone that it’s a good time to also change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors at home.

Daylight Saving Time is the practice of temporarily advancing clocks in the spring so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have less.

Daylight Saving Time will return on March 14, 2011, in the United States and Canada.

Typically, clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in fall. This practice is being done primarily to conserve energy.

Oddly enough, the rest of the world observed the 2010 change back on Halloween.

In the United Kingdom, for example, the time change took place on Oct. 31 and will return — or “spring forward” — on March 28.

You should also know that some U.S. states and territories, including Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas, do not observe Daylight Saving Time.
