GRAMMY ® and GMA Dove Award winning, multi-platinum selling recording artist Michael W. Smith is now home after undergoing what was termed “minor neck surgery”.  The procedure took place the morning of January 20th, at Semmes – Murphey Neurologic and Spine Institute in Memphis, Tennessee.

From the artist’s Twitter, he wrote this:

“Thanks so very much for all the prayers and support. I am home and feeling remarkably well. Still sore and need to heal up…and lay low.  For those who prayed?…your prayers were answered. I sensed His presence in a powerful way. He was in the room…..indeed. Love to all!”

Smith’s most recent album (the 22nd of his career) is the more modern Wonder, which incorporate influences like U2, Chris Tomlin, and Hillsong Live.

Michael also has an upcoming book release – the 12th of his career.  “A Simple Blessing; The Extraordinary Power of an Ordinary Prayer,” hits stores March 2011.

Smith is expected to recover in time for the launch of his “2 Friends” Tour; co-headlining with Amy Grant.  The tour begins Feb. 2 in Rocklin, California.  Later, Sunday, Feb. 6, Smith performs at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., as part of the celebration of the former president’s 100th birthday.
