Ted Williams, the homeless man who shot to fame after his “golden voice” was featured on YouTube, is heading to rehab, according to a press release from the “Dr. Phil” show.

According to the release, Williams “has decided to enter a rehabilitation treatment facility for his alcohol and drug dependency.”

The “Dr. Phil” show announced that Williams “agreed to go to a private facility following a lengthy one-on-one conversation with Dr. Phil.”

“If Ted is ever going to get better, he’s got to be honest with himself and admit he’s addicted to drugs and alcohol,” Dr. Phil said in a statement. “I’ve told him it’s not going to be easy and it’s going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction.”

Williams’ alleged rehab move was prompted by his “strange behavior over the past several days,” the show said in its press release.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Tuesday, LAPD confirmed to Access that officers responded to a disturbance call at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, at 9 PM on Monday, where Williams was allegedly involved in a verbal altercation with his daughter.

Both Williams and his daughter were transported to the Hollywood station, where they were released without booking.

Neither party wanted to press charges and the investigation is ongoing, police added.

The conversation with the TV doctor airs on Thursday.

Williams’ ex-wife, Patricia, and five of his family members will also appear on Thursday’s show where they are expected to talk about their version of what happened on Monday. The relatives reportedly told the show that Williams has been “drinking daily, despite his adamant claims of sobriety,” the “Dr. Phil” show release read.
