LOCAL NEWS: More Cuts Considered at Schools in Garfield Heights

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio – Already facing shortened school days and cuts in programs, parents and students of the Garfield Heights City School District will have to brace themselves for more potential bad news on Thursday.

In December, the district announced a realignment plan that resulted in the elimination of music, arts, physical education and library programs for grades K-5 and a reduction of these programs at the middle school level.

LOCAL NEWS: Cleveland Pushes Importance of Financial Aid

CLEVELAND – The U.S. Department of Education has selected Cleveland as one of six cities to receive specialized training to assist the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and area community organizations in getting better education out to families on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

LOCAL NEWS: KeyBank Foundation Donates to the CMSD

CLEVELAND – The KeyBank Foundation donated $700,000 to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District during a STEM school partnership announcement Tuesday morning.

The joint venture is viewed by CMSD as a vote of confidence not only in Cleveland schools, but for the students who will take part in this new and innovative curriculum that’s designed to increase their chances of attending college and leaving with a diploma.
