Tuesday night is the 28th annual ‘National Night Out,’ which is an event to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention across the country. In Cleveland, the crime prevention event comes on the heels of a tragic weekend.

At Saturday’s Unity Day celebration at Luke East Park in Cleveland, four people were shot, including 16-year-old Slyvonte Williams, who died from the shooting.

The shooter is still on the loose and because of that, Cleveland businessman Ken Lanci is offering a $5,000 time-sensitive reward, added to the $2,000 Crime Stoppers reward already being offered.

“The difference between mine and the Crime Stoppers is that there is a deadline for the money that I’m offering for the name of the individual who is arrested and convicted,” Lanci said. “It’s 10 p.m. on Tuesday night which is 72 hours after the shooting.”

Lanci’s reward also happens to coincided with National Night Out.

If you would like to take part in National Night Out, There will be a celebration at Cleveland’s Steelyard Commons from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The celebration will be held at the Home Depot and will offer live performances, free food and drinks and you will be able to dunk Cleveland police officers for $1.

Last year, 37 million people in 15,000 communities in all 50 states participated in a National Night Out event.
