More than $80,000 worth of items were stolen from a Cleveland church in the past week.

The Trinity Cathedral, in the 2200 block of Euclid Avenue, said two recent break-ins are under investigation by Cleveland Police Department.

“We are deeply hurt by this and we’re praying for the perpetrator or perpetrators and hope that their hearts will be changed and that the items will be returned,” said Rev. Canon Will Mebane, in a news release from the church on Wednesday.

The thieves made off with about a dozen items, including jewel-encrusted chalices and a sliver-plated host box. Staff at the Episcopal church are working with Cleveland police on the investigation.
