Today, we all remember the man, Michael Jackson, who is a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. As I recall the memorial service, I am thinking about the family that is left behind to grieve and mourn for the father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. They are the ones who God put here for Michael to intimately experience joy, hope, sorrow and pain. As my heart aches for them and all of us fans, I want to share this prayer for them today.
Father,
I lift up to you the family, friends, and fans of Michael Jackson.
Comfort them in their time of grief.
Give them a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Stand with them.
Let them know that you are there for them.
Grant gentleness to be given to all who are experiencing pain over Michael’s passing.
Permit salvation to permeate every life Michael touched.
Place a hedge of protection around his children.
Allow his children to know you and become your children.
Commission the court proceedings to run smoothly and your perfect will to be done.
Make the sun shine through the clouds of mourning.
May you receive all of the glory and honor from Michael’s life and death.
