This Labor Day, 14 million Americans are unemployed.

Jackie Rivera lives in Cleveland. She is part of the 9.1% of Americans who are out of work.

“I’m a full-charge bookkeeper with over 20 some years of experience,” Rivera explained.

Rivera says she was laid off in May 2009. Since then, she has spent countless hours searching for work. “I’ve applied for probably 250 jobs and in all that time I got one interview,” said Rivera.

President Obama is addressing the need for job creation.

Monday afternoon, the president traveled to Detroit to speak at an annual event sponsored by the AFL-CIO. “The time for Washington games is over. The time for action is now,” said Obama.
