It has been 10 years since the devastating terrorist attacks on the United States.
On September 11, 2001, Americans watched in horror as al-Qaeda hijackers crashed planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
A fourth plane, which is believed to have been targeting the Capitol Building or the White House, crashed in Shanksville, Pennslyvania, after passengers tried to overtake the hijackers.
Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the deadly attacks
Now, after a decade, countries across the world are holding tributes in remembrance of the victims, heroes and survivors of 9/11.
