The state fire marshal has ruled that the cause of the April 18 fire at 15806 Arbor Trail in Newbury at the home of the late R&B star Gerald Levert is “undetermined.”
State Fire Marshal spokesman Shane Cartmill said that, even though the home was destroyed by the fire, investigators completed a thorough on-scene investigation, collected fire debris for analysis and conducted several interviews.
“Despite these efforts, investigators were unable to pinpoint the exact cause of the fire,” Cartmill said.
The case will no longer be actively investigated unless new information is brought to SFM investigators or local law enforcement.
No one was injured in the fire and the home was vacant at the time.
