Chef Sam Morgante spoke to nearly 100 high school culinary arts teachers about his years working in the George W. Bush White House Monday morning.
A Navy chef who served on numerous ships and submarines, Morgante spent more than 200 days on 70 domestic and overseas trips. The job of a White House chef includes making sure that the food served is safe from any attempts to poison the First Family.
Ohio Prostart is an industry training program that provides 11th and 12th grade students with the knowledge they will need to be successful in the restaurant industry.
A two-day training session was held at Cuyahoga Community College’s Hospitality Center in downtown Cleveland. The center offers college students an associates degree in culinary arts, as well as other hospitality related degrees.
