GTECH Corporation opened its After School Advantage computer lab at Amazing Grace Conservatory/AGC in Los Angeles, co-founded by Wendy Raquel Robinson (BETs “The Game”) during an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Amazing Grace Conservatory offers a well-rounded, culturally-enriching educational program to at-risk youth in the performing arts in Los Angeles co-founded by Wendy Raquel Robinson in 1995.
GTECH’s After School Advantage program is a national community investment initiative, which provides non-profit agencies and public schools with state-of-the-art computer labs in states where a GTECH office is located. These labs are designed to provide inner-city children aged five to 15 with a meaningful and fun learning experience during the critical after-school hours, in a safe environment. The initiative is meant to provide an otherwise unavailable educational experience and bridge the digital divide among at-risk children. GTECH Corporation has been a lottery technology supplier to the California Lottery since 1985 and is a supporter of their efforts to raise $23 billion for students attending California’s public schools.
Executives from GTECH joined local dignitaries including California Assembly member Isadore Hall, III; Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas; Actress and Co-Founder of Amazing Grace Conservatory Wendy Raquel-Robinson; Veteran Actress, Marla Gibbs; Raven Symone’ and other Amazing Grace staff and students to unveil the new computer lab.
