A man was lying in the road when he was hit by a car and killed early Thursday morning, police say.

The incident happened just after 2 a.m. about 500 feet from the intersection of Theiss and Akron Pennisula roads.

Cuyahoga Falls police closed Theiss Road between Akron Peninsula and Hardy roads.

When police and emergency workers arrived at the scene, the victim was found face-down in the roadway, police said. The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man, told police that the man was lying in the eastbound lane when he hit him.

The driver agreed to a breathalyzer test and his blood alcohol content was below the legal limit for the state of Ohio.

The Summit Metro Crash Response Team is handling the reconstruction and investigation, the team is made up of multiple Summit County
