A bad accident shut down Mentor’s Center Street Bridge in both directions late Monday morning. The accident happened around 10:30 a-m and the bridge did not re-open until around 2:30 p-m.

Officers say four vehicles, including an ambulance, were involved in the wreck.

One vehicle went left of center and hit the ambulance. The impact caused the ambulance to spin around and pin a pick-up truck against the bridge. A fourth vehicle was also struck.

Police say the driver of the green Pontiac Bonneville crossed the center lane, but officers are still investigating why the driver lost control.

All four drivers were transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
