As we head into one of the most dangerous times of the year for crashes at intersections, the Ohio Department of Transportation is aiming to reduce the number of these wrecks by making safety upgrades.

At a meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, ODOT representatives will detail safety enhancements to the media that will be made at the intersection of Carnegie Avenue and Ontario Street. They also plan to provide tips for navigating intersections safely.

ODOT reports nearly 40 percent of crashes at busy intersections result in serious injuries, with young drivers, between the ages of 15-25, being most vulnerable. ODOT also notes that age group is involved in about 25 percent of all intersection fatalities and 35 percent of all intersection crashes, which tend to peak between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The meeting will be held at Progressive Field
