The fresh blue waters of the local outdoor pool have increasingly become the heat relief of choice in Greater Cleveland.

With summer high temperatures averaging close to 85 degrees — and 11 days exceeding 90 degrees — it makes sense that pool attendance is up.

Sandi Cargnell, 44, said she and her son go to the Walters Grove pool in Parma every day.

Families who regularly use the Walter Avenue pool have bonded.

“It’s a great way to meet people,” Cargnell said on Saturday. Her son has made friends with kids from other schools, and she has a chance to meet with other parents.
