It’s the battle of the fans.

It’s Browns versus Steelers.

But this time, it’s for a good cause.

The Salvation Army is calling for some charitable competition this holiday season.

In its latest campaign, the Kettle Battle, fans create online teams to raise donation funds. Then you check the Salvation Army website to see which city is winning by seeing how much each local team has earned.

It’s a little like fantasy football, except it all goes to a good cause and there aren’t any losers.

“People have really enjoyed it,” said Salvation Army Major Lurlene Johnson. “People like competition, they like rivalry and people want to support their teams and so absolutely it’s been wonderful and we are hoping it will continue to take off every year and that we will continue to do better.”

In recent years, charities have had to get creative to earn donations.

The Salvation Army is hoping to appeal to sports fans now.

This event has been going on for 2 years already.
