Acceptable dialog on commercial television seems ever-expanding since comedian George Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” in 1972. And if they had their way, the Parents Television Council would add “douche” to the updated list.

According to the PTC, that word has been used on the top four non-cable networks at least 76 times in the past seven weeks.

It was heard on “The Cleveland Show,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Law & order: Special Victims Unit” combined.

The use of the word, “bitch,” tripled in the last decade alone. The PTC compiled the data at the request of the New York Times.
