The glass-enclosed observation room, which has a capacity of 50 people, will be open on four consecutive weekends from noon to 4 p.m. beginning July 11. Visitors can purchase tickets for $5 from Tower City’s guest services desk. Kids 5 and younger don’t pay.

Renovation of the observation floor was completed in January as part of the entire building’s $40 million-plus makeover. It is open yearly to athletes who participate in the “Tackle the Tower” run up the steps to the 42nd floor, though they’re in no condition to enjoy the view. It also was opened for the tower’s 75th birthday in 2005 and for the “Hidden Cleveland” tour in April.

Longtime Clevelanders share fond memories of having seen the city from that panoramic vantage point as children, and they might feel as if they stepped back in time. The renovation has restored the 42nd floor observation area to its 1930s splendor.
