Four people died and 13 others were injured when a church van rolled over Sunday night in southwest Georgia, the state patrol said.

The Columbus, Ga., church group was southbound on U.S. Highway 27 in Early County when the driver lost control of the van after a rear tire blew out, Gordy Wright, state patrol spokesman, told the AJC. The van was headed to Florida, he said.

There were 17 people on the 15-passenger van when it crashed, around 6:45 p.m., Wright said. No other vehicles were involved.
“The van traveled into the median and overturned several times,” Wright said in a statement. “Several of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle.”
