The city of Cleveland hosted their annual “Big City Boo” event Thursday night.

Attendees joined Cleveland mayor Frank Jackson and McGruff® the Crime Dog and others for an evening of Halloween safety awareness and fun.

City leaders originally developed the idea in order to provide a safe alternative to trick or treating door to door.

On Friday, similar events will be held at all 22 city recreation centers.

Both events are free and open to the public.
