Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician criminally charged in the death of Michael Jackson, has just been allowed to keep his Nevada medical license.

Deputy Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners chief Edward Cousineau told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Murray admitted to making inaccurate and incomplete statements to the board about being current on child support.

Murray’s punishment was only a reprimand and at least $3,700 in investigation costs. The board approved the agreement Friday, reports the AP.

Murray spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik says Murray believed he complied with reporting rules because he was negotiating payments with the mother of his son in California. A Clark County prosecutor, Gerard Costantian, says the child support case in Nevada is now closed.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death in June 2009 at age 50. Authorities say he gave the singer a lethal dose of sedatives, including the anesthetic propofol and painkiller lidocaine.

In related news, AP reports that the two syringes and an IV bag found in the pop singer’s home have yet to be tested.

Attorneys for Dr. Murray asked the judge today to order testing on the items, which they say are rapidly deteriorating. The request comes after more than a month of private meetings between defense attorneys, prosecutors and the judge to try to get testing on the items performed.

Dr. Murray’s defense team has expressed urgency for the testing, saying fluids in the items are deteriorating rapidly and have become “salt” in one of the syringes.

The testing they are seeking may determine the quantities of drugs in the items, which the cardiologist’s lawyers say could be crucial information for a trial.

Attorney J. Michael Flanagan told The Associated Press that he submitted a motion asking a judge to order the testing after being unable to reach an agreement with prosecutors about the testing. No hearing date has been set, he said.

“We are running out of time,” Flanagan said. Eurweb.com
