Hardship turned to inspiration for gospel star James Fortune.
At two of the Texas-based artist’s lowest points in his life, when he questioned his choices and his faith, he found the inspiration to write two of his biggest hits. “I Survived” was written when he was having difficulty with his marriage, health and ministry, and “I Trust You” was written when he and his family were suffering through homelessness.
Fortunately, both of those songs helped turned the tide, and James Fortune and FIYA are now among gospel’s up-and-coming young acts.
