The new list of most charitable celebrities came out recently with Oprah at the top. Through the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, the media mogul has donated more than $41 million toward education for women and children. But this isn’t her first time being in the no. 1 spot. In fact, this is the third time she’s seen the top.
In a distant second is novelist Nora Roberts who gave $4.45 million to her organization that supports literacy, children’s programs, and other humanitarian efforts. Others on the list include Meryl Streep and hubby Donald Grummer at $4 million, Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler at $2.9 million, and Lance Berkman and Cara Berkman at $2.1 million.
