Jim Tressel is out as head football coach for the Ohio State University and what may be seen as the knock out punch was a Sports Illustrated investigative piece, The Fall of Jim Tressel, that hit the web Monday night.

S.I.’s article alleges that as many as 28 Buckeyes have traded memorabilia for tattoos. They say it’s gone on since 2002.

The magazine even says that some of the autographed items players traded had Coach Tressel’s signature on it.

The writer, Pulitzer Prize Winner George Dohrman, also notes that some players traded memorabilia for marijuana. He goes on to get into Tressel’s past at Youngstown State where the Penguins ran into NCAA violations.

The article even accuses Tressel of possible violations going back to his days as an Ohio State assistant in the 80’s.
