Jennifer Hudson, as you surely know by now, recently dropped 80 pounds, and it looks like there’s more to the story.

The singer/actress has landed a book deal with Dutton, an imprint of the Penguin Group, to write a memoir about her struggles with weight throughout her life.

The currently untitled book will chronicle Hudson’s childhood in an environment where a healthy lifestyle wasn’t a priority on up to her battles with size while on “American Idol” and at events like the Oscars, according to a statement from the publishing house.

The statement adds that Hudson wants the book to serve as an inspiration for others who want to shed a few, and she’ll also offer tips on how to lose weight and keep it off.

The memoir is expected to arrive in January, 2012.
